Let me clarify that I have taken my mask off after already getting into a store before, a number of times. But today I decided that I wanted to take the harder way and not wear one going in. I live in a pretty blue county of a red state.

The first store I went to has mostly older folks as employees, so I had a good feeling that there was going to be an issue there but it's my favorite grocery store by my house. There is always someone by the front door "wiping down carts" but I realized today this is the assigned mask police. The older gentleman asked me if I had a mask and when I said no he offered one to me. I said I wasn't going to wear it and he told me, "it's nothing personal against you, but I'm not allowed to let you into the store without a mask". Honestly this guy was being nice except for the fact that he was denying me service, but I wasn't going to argue with him so I turned around and left.

The store next door was a Target so I decided to just walk over and get what I needed there. Once again, the guy "wiping down the carts" asked me if I had a mask, this time it was a young guy like me. I told him no and he pointed to a table and said I can get one there. I politely told him "I'm alright thanks" and he repeated the same line as the last guy, and told me he can't let me in without a mask. I grabbed a cart and said, "I'm gonna go this way, but if you want to call a manager that's fine". He said alright and I walked away.

Every single person in both stores had a mask on, I suspect some were wearing 2 lol. Not a single person looked me in the eye the entire time I was in the store, I was basically being shunned. I got what I needed and went to self checkout, where I was again ignored by all of the customers and employees, even the one that says have a nice day as you're walking out. It was a strange experience but I'm glad I did it. I hope one day I'm not the only one at the store without a mask on anymore, I really do.

Thanks for reading.

I ran into one of you in my Walmart today. I told him (with a smile) he was a rebel and took off my mask too Fweedom!

guten_morgen 11 points ago +11 / -0

Walked into the dollar store today without a mask. Despite being in Texas, most everyone wears masks around here. Although one older gentleman in there also wasn't wearing one. I got looks but I don't care. It is sad that it was so liberating. Can't believe this is what America has come to. Felt like I was in the Middle East without my hijab.

Angerisagift 2 points ago +2 / -0

I used to get a thrill out of shopping nude. Screw the government telling me what to wear in public!

Blue state antimasker antivaxxer here, Practice noncompliance every day while it is relatively easy and become confident in doing it. It'll come in handy when there is more at stake.

OoooJackieBlue 23 points ago +23 / -0

Taking off the mask is like being the only guy on the block to put Christmas lights on your house. At first everyone gawps at you. Then they start copying you.

18
Kekmanchoo [S] 18 points ago +18 / -0

That's honestly what my hope is. If I do it enough times maybe it could have a chain reaction and wake some of these freaks up!

5
guten_morgen 5 points ago +5 / -0

It will. People will hopefully start feeling ridiculous wearing one.

Except for the women who now have masks to match every outfit and think it makes their face look younger and thinner.

I believe you're right about this. What would you suggest though?

12
OoooJackieBlue 12 points ago +12 / -0

Lie. "Yeah sure both doses." Then if they demand to see your vax records, tell them HIPPA laws prohibit them from accessing your medical records.

OR, should they begin issuing cards, I expect to see a rise in forged vax cards that will work nicely to get you in where you need to go.

4
guten_morgen 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm quite sure they'll bend HIPAA for this vaccination. It is a deathly plague after all.

3
ViduusMAGA 3 points ago +3 / -0

“Should they begin”.... have you seen the reminder cards? They sure look different then a reminder...

1
OoooJackieBlue 1 point ago +1 / -0

Haven't seen them but I'm pretty rural and almost no one enforces the nonsense up here.

2
JustaMom85 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep, HIPPA laws. It’s a privacy matter! Nice how that works out, isn’t it?

1
Chipper875 1 point ago +1 / -0

They already issue cards, heres what they look like https://archive.fo/zcsdl

There has to be doctors who aren't down with this mess and will do just that. Problem is finding them. You know they'll all be paranoid that you're trying to set them up if you come out and ask.

I don’t wear a mask in Walmart. They don’t say shit. But I don’t go there anymore cuz Fuck China, Fuck Biden, and Trump Won.

7
The_garynator 7 points ago +7 / -0

Walmart won't do shit. The guard tried saying something to me one time 'sir'...'sir', I just ignored him and walked in. Other than that, I haven't had one person say anything to me. The day they turn me away for not wearing one is the day I stop shopping there.

6

12
FuckReddit4545 12 points ago +12 / -0

You are not a pussy. The societal pressure to wear these fucking things is immense.

10
guten_morgen 10 points ago +10 / -0

Had my 12 year old niece tell me she's embarrassed going into stores with her older brother because he won't wear one. I tried explaining to her that that is the point. It is not about health, it is about compliance and conditioning people to be as

7
Kekmanchoo [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

I realized that was the only thing getting me to wear the mask a long time ago. I feel like a cuck when I have one on.

11
69Charger 11 points ago +11 / -0

Reads like this make me happy. If a mask cop says anything to me, I just stare straight ahead, ignore their voice and keep on walking. So far nobody has chased me down or tried grabbing me. Stay the course.

10
Kekmanchoo [S] 10 points ago +10 / -0

That's honestly probably better than engaging these people. Most of them don't get paid enough to really do anything about it.

6
69Charger 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yeah most employees dont enjoy harassing strangers although I have encountered a few exceptions. My favorite part of your story is that you were prepared to take your business elsewhere and did rather than submit.

7
Kekmanchoo [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

I decided I wasn't going to put one on no matter what, even if it meant going to 3 different stores.

2
TeaMug71 2 points ago +2 / -0

At some point they are going to put real police at the doors or some sort of security guard.

3
BobDolesBanana 3 points ago +3 / -0

Staring straight ahead is good...if older, act like you have dementia if they persist.

Truly dystopian. I always fantasized about living in a dystopian world. Idk though it's pretty gay.

7
Kekmanchoo [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

Lmao it's super gay. Way more cucked than I imagined. At least pushing back against it makes me feel cool.

1
OoooJackieBlue 1 point ago +1 / -0

I wanted rotted flesh, staggering zombies. Instead I got bad hair cut, mask nazi Karen zombies.

7
The_garynator 7 points ago +7 / -0

Half of the people in there are probably wishing they had balls like you. You might even inspire some to take theirs off too. People need to see that the world won't end if they take theirs off. It will spread. I'm in WI and aside from a couple times early on and at the airport, haven't worn one at all. I see more and more without them at stores.

Stay strong!

6
Kekmanchoo [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

I wish more people in my area had some nuts. I guess that's what I get for living in a dem county.

5
FluhanWu 5 points ago +5 / -0

It works. Keep it up. Most stores I inspire nobody. It has happened a few times though.

7
EllemenoP 7 points ago +7 / -0

I still wear one getting groceries only because there's loads of elder folks around, and I think it just makes them and their caregivers feel better if nothing else. Funny thing though - I still get looked at like I'm an alien from planet Zorp or something. I don't dress weird, I don't wear t-shirts with messages, I'm an ordinary nerdy girl mom type. I thought it was my imagination, but I couldn't shake it. The only thing I could think of was that I have an American Flag pin on my jacket. Could it that? Why would anyone care. We're all living in crazy town these days.

6
Kekmanchoo [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

Try taking it off. The first time I ever did it was a few months ago when I was at the grocery store with my wife, and I felt like I was walking on air. The feeling was euphoric.

6
Seems_legit83 6 points ago +6 / -0

Funny. I agree with ya. We need more people to do it. Most of the workers don’t wanna wear the damn mask. You can tell the ones who do, they typically have a face shield too.

1
rottn 1 point ago +1 / -0

LOL face shield

6
Itateeverybody 6 points ago +6 / -0

Good on ya.

I don't wear a mask hardly ever for any reason these days but I'm in a redder area so it's easier. I did have one guy at Walmart tell me to put on a mask and I just said "nope".

That was about it for altercations though, most people don't seem to give a shit.

4
Kekmanchoo [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Its tough getting into stores in a cucked out area like mine.

3
Itateeverybody 3 points ago +3 / -0

I don't doubt it.

Don't give the bastards an inch...not one.

3
Kekmanchoo [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm trying to push back. If we don't do it now, its masks for life!

4
Itateeverybody 4 points ago +4 / -0

And to think, there was a time I would've jumped at the chance to wear a bandana over my face and not be looked at like a weirdo.

TeaMug71 1 point ago +1 / -0

2
TeaMug71 2 points ago +2 / -0

That sucks to be in a blue state, I would think about relocating if I were you. I’m in a red state with some larger blue cities. I rarely shop in the blue cities. There are some stores that I go to that hardly anyone wears a mask. That’s who gets my business.

1
Kekmanchoo [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm in a red state, blue county.

2
TeaMug71 2 points ago +2 / -0

Oh ok. I used to be too but moved to the country about four years ago. I knew the shit was going to get ugly eventually. Glad I did , sad thing is that I don’t think it’s gotten ugly yet. Wait till the power goes out or food shortages or whatever. You do not want to find yourself in a densely populated area. My biggest fear is my family or myself being in a city, if and when the proverbial shit hits the fan, and not being able to get home.

2
Kekmanchoo [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

5
MAGAlikethis 5 points ago +5 / -0

Blue county here. It's not that hard. It's all in your head. Don't talk to them. Don't even break your gait. Just keep walking when they babble their bullshit. They're not going to call the cops. Just keep doing it and if I see you in the store, I will make sure to loudly tell you 'hello' so everyone can be reminded what a normal society acts like.

5
Kekmanchoo [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'm probably not going back to the store with the old folks running the place. If I'm not welcome then they won't get my service.

3
MAGAlikethis 3 points ago +3 / -0

Fair enough, but try to judge the difference between one person at the entry with a chip on their shoulder vs. a store where the owner doesn't actually want your business. I was at the self checkout the other day and had to the call the girl over to approve my alcohol purchase and her jaw literally dropped when she saw I wasn't wearing a mask. She didn't make any eye contact or say anything after that point. Just approved it and walked off.

4
BillionsAndBillions 4 points ago +4 / -0

Take a cart from the parking lot, and just burst in with it like you own the place, before they can say anything. Most of the time they won't bother to chase you down. If they do, just pretend you're deaf or concentrating on something else.

4
rottn 4 points ago +4 / -0

Way to go! 🎉

I am still working up my courage to do what you just did. I went maskless at a convenience store the other day, but that's not the same as a Target or grocery store IMO.

5
Kekmanchoo [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

I figure gas stations are probably the easiest place to get away with it, but I only pay at the pump.

5
Lazy8 5 points ago +5 / -0

Gas stations are ridiculous! The outside part pumping your gas. The costco near me always has everyone outside pumping gas wearing a mask??? I haven't gotten the courage like you to not wear one in a store when told you need to but I never wear one when I'm outside. That's where I draw the line on the insanity. Maybe I'll try to enter a few stores and see what they say. If they ask me to leave I will but you've inspired me to at least try too.

2
Kekmanchoo [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Then it's working!!! Thanks fren

3
The_garynator 3 points ago +3 / -0

There's no better time than the present. It's about frame of mind. They're not shunning you or judging you, they're wishing they didn't have a muzzle on. You're the one judging them, you're the normal one, they're the sheep.

3
rottn 3 points ago +3 / -0

👍

4
datahog1776 4 points ago +4 / -0

In my area everybody wears them but you don't get any shit for not doing so... I also find that employees treat me nicer without a mask on. Maybe it's the smile. Either way, I haven't worn one since the middle of 2020 and I've only been denied service a handful of times.

1
BobDolesBanana 1 point ago +1 / -0

4
Lazy8 4 points ago +4 / -0

You RUDE!, UNCARING! SELFISH! RACIST!! Sorry that's what I hear from family when I walk around with the chin diaper not over my nose...minus the racist part. I threw that in there because the people in the store probably are thinking that. I haven't been brave enough to do that and honestly if they said they don't want me there I'd just leave. Won't make a scene but good on you. That is pretty balsy! Crazy in this clown world we live in that the outcasts are the ones who don't succumb to fear pressure. I still walk around with my MAGA hat on sometimes in stores and I feel like daggers are being hurled at me. I'm on edge the whole time and heart racing. I'm in a blue part of a very blue western state, so there's that.

3
Kekmanchoo [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

Man I can barely imagine wearing my MAGA hat outside of the house. You're a chad.

2

3
Dum_spiro_spero 3 points ago +3 / -0

The door Karen at target is wrong. Look it up on their website. If you have a condition preventing you from wearing a mask, they won't deny you service (and they really aren't even supposed to be asking about underlying issues).

3
JustaMom85 3 points ago +3 / -0

I’ve never worn a mask walking into a Walgreens or HyVee. No one has ever said anything and the employees are still friendly. I experienced the same thing as you did in Target and pretty much did the same thing... I’m fine, thanks - and kept walking. Act normal, be friendly, kill them with kindness. Hey I’m proud of you for taking the step you did. A shame that it has to feel so weird. But good for you! :)

3
1777 3 points ago +3 / -0

After a while of shopping without one and then you do shop with one on again - you’ll feel embarrassed for wearing a mask around maskless shoppers.

2
Kekmanchoo [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

This had been me a few times. I don't wanna go back!

2
TeaMug71 2 points ago +2 / -0

True

2
counter_ltard 2 points ago +2 / -0

Good on ya. I'm also in a blue county in a very blue state. I've been going into stores for a few months with no mask on and I've gotten the same treatment. Everyone just ignores you and won't look you in the eye. Everyone else is just mindlessly walking around with a mask. I kind of wish someone would make a scene. Maybe it would wake some of them up...

1
Kekmanchoo [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lmao I was expecting it

2
tombombadil86 2 points ago +2 / -0

Keep it up man. It'll spread.

I was recently thrown out of Walmart.

Luckily the grocery stores don't give me or the other maskless shoppers a hard time.

I usually open carry, was not caring at Walmart because I had a couple beers right before. May have left me alone if I had been carrying.

2
doug2 2 points ago +2 / -0

There's gonna be a photo of you masklessly shopping on the wall lol

2
Merciless 2 points ago +3 / -1

Keep at it. Pretty soon it’ll be no big deal to you. Trust that at least some people will be encouraged by seeing you not wearing a mask, and eventually will do the same.

4
Kekmanchoo [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

I sure hope so.

2
Dathurtz 2 points ago +2 / -0

Good for you! Not a pussy at all.

It is funny how, around here, if men see one person without a mask then pretty soon no men have on a mask. Everybody knows it is bullshit, but most people don't wanna be the first one to act like it.

2
PonySoldier66 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is the way.

2
BobDolesBanana 2 points ago +2 / -0

One of my consultants took his 13 year son to the job site today and I hitched a ride with them. We didn't wear any masks but brought along one for the meeting. During the drive, when I asked his son what he thought about masks he says the mask "makes it hard to tell how a person feels". I told him "don't let anyone tell you this is normal. In fact, this mask crap is insane."

2
Kekmanchoo [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Good. I tell the young ones around me the same thing.

2
BobDolesBanana 2 points ago +2 / -0

Any child that wonders why the world is crazy as it is now should know there are old folks asking the same questions...but don't tell mom I said this to you.

2
Luvs_2_Bop 2 points ago +2 / -0

i am glad youre joining the ranks! Everyone needs to resist the BS

2
Trumpgirl1963 2 points ago +2 / -0

GOOD FOR YOU! If we’d all do this, we’d slowly see a change. Leave stores that won’t let us come in....i can go somewhere else and spend my money.

2
Ccjunque 2 points ago +2 / -0

Mask conditioning is a thing. I spoke with a preschool teacher who works in a center where masks are not required. (Amazing!) She had a new 2-year old in the class - parents said it was fine to remove his mask, but the child was so distressed at having to take it off that they left it on him. It was like his safety blanket. Sad.

Modern day freedom fighter. (Being sincere)

I do think it’s good practice to respect the wishes of the store. If a manager etc. asks, it just accept it and shop elsewhere.

To me the goal is to change the NORM back to normal while still respecting businesses and their employees.

2
amethystzephyr 2 points ago +2 / -0

Primary motive (in addition to our Constitution) for never wearing a mask:

Ten Stages of Genocide

  1. Classification: People are divided into 'us and them'.

  2. Symbolizattion: People are FORCED to identify themselves.

  3. Discrimination: People begin to face systematic discrimination.

  4. Dehumanization: People are equated with animals, vermin, or DISEASES.

  5. Organization: The government creates specific groups (police/military) to enforce the policies.

  6. Polarization: The government broadcasts propaganda to turn the populace against the group.

  7. Preparation: Official action to remove/relocate people.

  8. Persecution: Beginning of murders, theft of property, trial massacres.

  9. Extermination: Wholesale elimination of the group. It is "extermination" and not murder because the people are not considered human.

  10. Denial: The government denies that it has committed any crime.

I'll not be complicit in genocide and crimes against humanity.

2
Norma_Bates 2 points ago +2 / -0

It gets easier the more you do it. Eventually being the only person in the store without a mask feels very freeing. I like to think every time I'm at a store maskless, I'm helping someone who doesn't want to wear a mask but can't bring themselves to actually do it find the courage to be free again.

I've literally only worn a mask twice this entire time. Once for a doctor's appointment and once to visit my mom at the hospital. Beyond that they can all fuck off.

2
mercynurse 2 points ago +2 / -0

Excellent.

I go without all the time and almost always I’m the only one without.

I’m in a red area of a blue state.

I’ve had similar experiences where no one will look at me.

Other times, people seem jealous or mad that they have to wear one, when it’s actually their choice.

What you did was courageous.

Carry on with your MAGA civil disobedience.

2
Don-O-Mite 2 points ago +2 / -0

Better late than never.

2
amethystzephyr 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm proud of you.

This is what it will take. Call their bluff. They are coming from a place of fear. If enough of us willfully violate these unconstitutional 'mask mandates' often enough, their resolve will falter. They will give in, then they will give up.

1
LeftyTearsWillFlow 1 point ago +1 / -0

My heart was pounding the first few times as well, but you will get used to it. I think a lot of the reason we get so worked up is because we have been so conditioned to "do what we are told" AND the fact that you are almost hoping someone says something because you want to let your anger out on someone. It won't do you any good, but I know the feeling. Eventually, you will not give 1 fuck about what someone thinks, might say, etc. Just remember at the end of the day that you are the one in the right. THEY are the fucking weirdos - not you. How many times in life is it the one guy/girl that goes against the grain and ends up being right in the end? Look at Elon Musk even. The people he looked up to pretty much hated him for what he was trying to do with space travel. He is right and will continue to be right. Unfortunately, a majority of people are just herd followers and there is not much we can do about it. Most people will not stop wearing a mask until they see a majority of others not doing it because they don't want to put attention on themselves. They don't want the confrontation. Get ready for the confrontation and don't wear a mask ever again even if you have to deal with some serious shit from someone in the near future about it. Just remember that you are in the right.

1
Kekmanchoo [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Elon is a hero and a chad, I don't care what anyone says about him. As for the rest of your comment, I'll do my best to never put one on again. But I'm afraid I'll falter soon. One day at a time right?
