Property taxes are the worst and most unethical tax. Hell I'd prefer income taxes to property taxes. Sales taxes are the best option though.
The mere existence of property taxes means you never actually own anything subject to them. Ever. You're only renting from the government and paying someone else for the privilege of renting from the government by "buying" the item from them.
The only way to truly "own" property is to buy in unincorporated rural territories. Much of northern Maine is like this. Of course, then you have to make your own roadways, install your own septic/well/solar/generator etc.
