Agree but you’re missing the point.

Their positions and political identity were rooted in the left.

Even Romney say what you will about him, his identity was rooted in Republican politics.

These Lincoln guys though were simply a Democrat scam using a label to attract attention.

Some of these guys served with McCain, etc but it’s clear they never supported the Republican Party in meaningful ways.
