There are higher values than base materialism, no? Protecting and improving the nation needs to be the goal of the state, and the economy is a tool to that end.

I will agree nationalism is best. But how does that have anything to do when arguing between economic systems? National communism would not have a good end result for most of the nation’s population. And for the record, we don’t have a economy based around capitalism these days. It’s corporatism where monopolies are protected by the state (I.e. the aerospace industry)
