My in laws were like this. Very nice people, but could literally not hear anything that did not reinforce their comfort level. A few times I carefully (and angrily) outlined the facts of a situation, such as when Bill Clinton gave our ballistic missle tech to China, and only then did it penetrate. But ordinarily they went to great lengths to avoid the truth, so as to be disturbed.
Yeah, their version of woke. Which actually means sleeping sheep that will drink the kool-aid without hesitation if the right person asks them to.
