You should learn because it's fun, it's cheaper, and it's healthier. But yeah, I've scored many points over the years, cooking meals for dates. I usually throw that in around the third date. :) It's even better when two cooks get together.

Get a copy of "The Joy Of Cooking", it covers most things - you can branch out into more exotic things from there.

Joy of Cooking, Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking- Marcella Hazan, Mastering the Art of French Cooking- Julia Child. These three books have you covered pretty well for making dinner for any date.
