The reason is to push the idea that everyone is crazy. Trump not being eligible to run is just the icing on the cake. Anything that further divides the country is what you will see.

I keep thinking about that scene in Star Wars when Obi Wan tells Vader, "if you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." So true.
