There are too many missing 411 and other reports which lead me to believe there are people who have abandoned society a while ago and now live completely off the land out of view of others.
Some of these people, I believe, live caveman-ish style lives out of necessity. Not sure we will ever prove it because clearly they are very skilled at moving around without being noticed, and more importantly nobody cares enough to solve it.
So just be warned, when you go out in the woods today, plan ahead.
