Splitting away from the Republican Party would also pull in voters of the Democratic Party who would not vote Republican. Trump leaving would not only take voters away from the Republicans, it would take voters away from the Democrats.
There is nobody currently voting Democrat who wanted to vote Trump but were waiting for him to start a new party. People who wanted to vote for Trump voted for Trump.
