I also wear hearing aids. I've had the mask strap push open the battery door a few times and not immediately notice it, a HUGE liability to not be able to hear potential dangers. I have COPD and often feel like I'm going to pass out from even a slight decline in fresh air intake. I also wear glasses and they get steamed up frequently. Wearing a mask is purely a death trap waiting to kill me.

Be willing to be different and calm about it.

“It sounds like you aren’t aware of federal HIIPA regulations that protect people’s medical records and don’t allow retailers to ask me that kind of question. It’s very personal. Thanks for respecting my privacy.” That will almost certainly shut them up if you have a determined Karen on your hands. Practice that at home too, until it feels very natural.
Biggest key is staying calm, compassionate and clear about your rights, and not explaining or defending. Compassion relates to understanding that they believe they are trying to be helpful to others, not letting yourself be defensive about it, and not needing anyone’s approval or permission. Also knowing it’s not your job to train these puppies in the truth. They are not yet mature enough to understand.

Here in Canada the doctors issue a paper exemption, even with those, my family is treated terribly for not masking.
My sister-in-law was forced to wait outside in the winter cold (in CANADA) for over an hour, while her car got serviced by a major dealership, because they wouldn't let her sit inside with no mask. To top it off, they didn't even come out and inform her when it was ready, she saw it through the fence parked there and had to go in and ask.

I read about a guy in the local hospital being tackled by security for not wearing a mask, and he was a lung transplant recipient. He was also wearing a face shield at the time. Half the comments on the article were about how he should have worn one anyway.... like what???
