My main goal is to educate people on the true history of the Confederacy. I am the Ohio Division Adjutant of the SCV (Sons of Confederate Veterans), a descendant of Robert E. Lee and many other Confederate soldiers. The South was NOT fighting for slavery. They were fighting a tyrannical government (taxes, tariffs, and state rights) similar to what we are dealing with today. Less than 4 percent of people in the South owned slaves. And there was more freed blacks in the South than there was in the North. The Confederacy was the American Revolution 2.0 - They were defending the constitution and protecting their families and land from invasion. You will find no greater Patriots than the brave Confederate Soldiers. This is NOT what they teach in liberal run schools. That is the yankee lies. History was re-written by the victors of the war. I recommend getting the book "Defend Dixie". Its short, to the point, and full of facts and sources.

I understand your point. Simply read Jefferson Davis’s books about the south and the war to see he was fighting an oppressive government

But when you read the articles of secession, you see it was all about slavery.

Mississippi, the second state to leave, spells it out clearly.

Thank God not everyone here is in to this Neo Confederate revisionist history. All you have to do is read the cornerstone speech by Alexander Stephens, Vice President of the Confederacy. He says as much in the opening of his speech:

"The new Constitution has put at rest forever all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institution—African slavery as it exists among us—the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization. This was the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution."

Not according to Lincoln. Lincoln wanted the tariff money and didn’t give shit about black people. Lincoln even offered a constitutional amendment to block the federal government from interfering with slavery. Your lying

Only 4 of the states mention slavery in the articles of Secession.

Virginia voted to stay in the Union, I'm wanting to say March of 61, but may be wrong. Then, Lincoln invaded or threatened VA. or some tyrannical stunt and they, surprisingly, defended their homeland.

Robert E. Lee was offered the generalship of the North; he didn't refuse because he wanted slaves, he refused because he wanted to defend VA.

Virginia didn’t leave until after shots were fired at Ft. Sumpter. I have interpreted this as “not slavery”

Thank you for posting. OP’s post is practical cancer to this site.

OP is not completely wrong though. Tariffs, state rights, federal encroachment were conditions that added to it

Came here to say something like this. The confederacy wrote essays saying they were fighting to keep their slaves.

The confederacy didn't write anything. Individuals did.

The Union was the lesser of two evils. Both were tyrannical governments
