Wait until Monday morning when the cars won't start and people don't show up for work. Those that still have jobs, that is. We're expecting -20F Monday morning, not the coldest I've seen, but in the top ten.

This was the case even before covid. If anyone in my dept at my last 2 jobs wasn't feeling well but could still work or couldn't make it in due to weather they were still expected to work a full day from home on their laptops. And the IT industry has done it that way for over a decade now.

If you're a machine operator or in maintenance this isn't possible though. Only works if you have sufficient desk work and a laptop.

Yikes. When I'm not feeling well my company doesn't make me WFH. Also IT.

If we're sick we don't work. But there's been times when my back was hurting or just needed a nap from lack of sleep and I'll just work from home, even if just a half day, rather than take a whole day off.

And a good Internet connection, in most cases.

Yes, but that's usually fairly common these days unless you have satellite internet and the weather knocks it out.

I'm spoiled because I have fiber. Just upgraded my router and am pulling 80 mbps download everywhere in the house on wifi and low 100s mbps down with an ethernet cord. The corded is slow because it runs through around 50 or 60 feet of cable from the modem to point of connection so it's got a lot of resistance.

Bro I live in dallas it's really not that bad lol. When I went to school at purdue wed still have class when it was -45 wind chill. We got a frost bite warning for outside exposure longer than 5 minutes... I had a 20 minute walk to class lol.

Nutted up and did that shit. It's just cold weather man.

It’s not you, it’s the people who have no snivel gear, who have no heaters capable of keeping up. Who can’t afford heat right now.

They will use their oven to heat the apartment and burn it down
