I know. It was hard. But if we won't even take a stand with these censorious assholes, and we let them continue spying on and censoring us, then where exactly will we armchair warriors take a stand?
So far, in 5 days, I've persuaded 13 of my friends to create a Telegram account and they all love it.
Take the plunge.
Fuck Zuck. Fuck Facebook. Take a stand for free speech. Don't let the CIA/FBI/NSA/DOJ/IRS watch your life.
Did you delete ALL your photos, likes, tags, groups, comments as well!? You MUST delete those first before you close your account. If you don’t do that, than that data still exists. Look up a program called imacros which will help you automate the deletion and disliking of your content. You also need to unfriend everyone prior to deleting, even delete chat history. I recommend stoping the deletion of your account, go back in, remove all associated content listed above, and once you have a 100% clean slate, then you can go in and delete
If you think deleting them off of FB actually deletes your dtaa/images off FB servers...I got some bad news. That data is theirs forever. Period. Just being honest
What people should be worried about more and they’re not is your browsing data being gather by search engines... they know more about you than you think and it’s impossible to delete that data... so, use ad blockers and VPN’s
Possibly so, but deleting everything prior to deleting the account makes it more difficult for people to find “that photo” and also, deleting that data states that you do not wish to continue to disclose what was once posted. I think they may be sued if a photo is brought back up and used to defame you especially if you deleted that specific photo.... also, I think that deleting your data will eventually scrub on the remaining servers essentially truly deleting your data
It will not delete your data. Facebook keeps shadow profiles even on people who have never used their service. They still know who you are, and where you visit, even if you have never opened an account ... unless you're aggressive and thorough about blocking them, which is esp. difficult if you use a smartphone.
They do not delete former account data, ever. But if it makes you feel better it's perfectly okay.
There is a loophole, though ... the staler the data over time, the less useful it can be for predictive manipulation.
And the more you personally evolve as a person -- in terms of psyche, spirit or strength -- after dumping GAFAM, the more stale the data is. If you stay the same, like many people do, they still know you too well. Become a new and reinvigorated person, and it will be useless.
This. I did this. Took me like 4 hours on an 8 year old account. But it feels so good.
There's some chrome addons that help too. One thay delete, but only from the old fb and one that turns fb into the old fb lol.
Yea, I removed all my photos but haven’t removed my comments/likes/places/groups. There’s a couple business related groups I still like to use which is why I haven’t deleted my FB completely
Mine is marketplace. It's the only reason I keep it. I removed everything. I mean everything. Likes. Comments. Replies. Almost all friends. All groups. Everything.. I want no reason. To ever go back there.
Time to make Facebook the new MySpace
this does nothing internally.
Do you work in IT? Because I do... servers around the world work by mirroring each other’s data continuously that way people have access to their data faster and also offers redundancy... your data is scattered across multiple drives and multiple servers. These servers eventually sync, so if you delete something, eventually, when its all synced, the data gets deleted... UNLESS!! Someone is ACTIVELY saving and holding on to YOUR data in particular. Now, that being said, I wouldn’t put it past FB if they’re actively saving user data for the reason to sell off that content. But at the same time, I don’t think they’re saving every single persons photos and storing it permanently. If anything, they probably have a 2-3 year hold on redundant data, so eventually things will be deleted
Yes, I have had for 17 years.
Facebook doesn’t delete data, ffs they even admitted to create “blank” profiles for people browsing webs that load any FB API if they aren’t logged in. The company is a data hoarder.
