They don’t give a fuck, cable news is all just a money laundering front for absurdly high-priced commercial advertising money that is part of a huge circle of social control dollars moving through the same companies over and over. Viewership and actually being profit centers within the giant multinationals they’re nestled within are almost irrelevant considerations.
