We've still got at least 100 years we see any major effects, and they might not even be bad. The period with the highest CO2 in the atmosphere was the Cretaceous period, which was the most biodiverse time in Earth's history. It was a big, wet, tropical ball.
I don't see us using all the gas engines etc in a hundred years. If we make it that far things will get better automatically through improvements in technology, not from killing all the cows this instant.
