The universities. Especially the California universities since affirmative action is banned in that state. Which means a(n appropriately) disproportionate number of young Asians get accepted into the UC/CSU system, and then promptly get brainwashed there over the next 4 years
Their parents, who scrimped, saved, and sacrificed to afford the insane tuition fees, are still stuck with both the classical Asian mentality of "education is the ultimate goal" (which finds roots going back over 2,000 years to the civil service examination system of Dynastic China, where being highly educated and passing the exams allowed a man to join a distinguished meritocracy and be set for his and his family's lives with a cushy government job) which is then unfortunately coupled with them also being stuck in the 1980s mindset of the American university as "a place of higher learning." Which has been outdated for at least the past 20 years.
