A Donald Trump trial is NOT the place to mount an attack on the Deep State. This, although clearly unconstitutional, was a dangerous game. Trump and a large number of his supporters could have been severely damaged-do you think that the Dems are above imprisoning an ex-President? They would execute him, given half a chance.
And, do NOT be fooled: Sure, X number of Republicans voted to acquit, but, don't think that it was because of the facts of the matter, and, that could all change to 'guilty' with just one new IPO of a Chinese company in need of CEOs.

The impeachment wasn't going to result in anyone being removed from Office.
