Americans killing Americans is a whole different ballgame. If the people of Texas truly want to secede, there is nothing the US government can do to stop it. The US military would need compliance from bordering states and that would get very messy.
The Chinese outnumber us already. If sheer numbers were all that mattered, we'd lose a war with China right now even if they didn't shut down the grid.
