I’m old enough to remember chemistry kits with more chemicals then baking soda, vinegar and salt.

I collect toy hatchets, with real steel heads. They're sized for 5-10 Y.O.s I have a couple steel claw hammers too. We all had BB and pellet rifles too. That's back when Darwin awards were given out on a regular basis.

Control line airplanes with 10K rpm engines and nylon propellers. Model rocket solid fuel engines lit with cannon fuse. BB guns that would put a hole in a license plate. Driving a 1 ton stake bed grain truck to the convenience store at 14 (legal). .22 rifles. Honda 350 motorbike, gone all day, no questions. Hard to believe the things my parents let me do, but hey, they did them too at the same age.

I completely forgot about those water rockets. The ones we had came in opaque white and translucent red plastic Surprisingly well made IIRC. with the red and white hand pump that clipped on the bottom and served as a launcher. My youngest kid just bought a pretty nice 87 XL 600R. I just realized the bike is older than he is (32) LOL

A wood burning kit and a wireless microphone kit were two "toys" i enjoyed the most.

Ahh, the days of the “Spin Welder”...

“See, we take a stick of plastic and spin it in a Dremel fast enough that the friction melts the plastic and whatever it’s touching! The perfect toy!”

The South Park Snake/Fireworks ban episode was one of my favorites about the coddling of our youth.

Toys back in the day were bad ass. I remember this gun from the early 80's that could shoot a pocket of air from 30ft away. Fucking hilarious puffing Mom's hair from that distance. Those were the days.
