Of course masks harm children. I'd be surprised if many don't grow up to be somewhat autistic because they aren't seeing and learning to recognize human expressions and emotions.

I'm not hard of hearing but lip reading is a big component of my verbal comprehension. These masks are making my job much more dangerous than is necessary.

I think a big contributor isn't really the masks but the hysteria around the virus. Kids are likely becoming neurotic about touching anything or anyone that could have germs, become overly sensitive if anyone is closer than 6 ft away, trying to identify any weird feeling as a sign they or someone else is infected with COVID, etc. Of course the lack of socialization also hurts!

Sure. It could be that too. But it's very important for little kids to see faces and learn to read expressions.
