The fact that the outcome will always be questioned and questionable -even if the machines do happen to be 100% on the level- should be enough to rule out using them. Election results being trusted to be accurate is as important as them being accurate.
The question to relentlessly put to those who insist on machine voting and counting is: why are you so insistent upon using them if it isn’t to make cheating easier? Is getting the count ‘quickly’ really more important than getting a count which the losing side will accept as accurate?
