The only reason they would actually care about illegals having amnesty is to get their vote - but as the last election has shown, they 1. don't need their votes (or anyone's for that matter) and 2. let illegals vote anyway. So they instead will keep them as an exploited slave class to drive down wages for their partners in big business, while also allowing them to vote. That's why Biden proposed his "8 year" pathway. He knows somewhere along the line someone will fuck up that plan and they'll never actually get citizenship.
