This is after already working on science: -> "Write a persuasive essay on how global warming ..." is a completely different thing than "Give an analytical report on..." Not only does it force your own hand, but it exposes your beliefs to the teacher's critique.

And propping up "science" over "engineering". Engineering is about making things effing work in the real world. Science is, innately, more 'theoretical'. (Not denigrating the actual science, that is important, jus tthe way the press uses it). Scientists are lauded, while engineers are merely the people/corporations actually "doing the polluting."

This is how Elon Musk gets so much hate from the Left . He spouts a lot of Lefty positions on everything. But. He pushes towards actually addressing the points instead of the endless cash-grab that they actually want .

On engineering scholarships for college, one essay question was “how are engineers supposed to tackle climate change”

I get the last laugh with record colds this year

"The easy solution, as it has been for 60 years now, is standardized thorium plants on barges. Barges (probably concrete) allow complete environmental impact inspection, they allow emplacement anywhere (with an artificial pool, which is a lot easier to design) and they eventually eliminate 80% of the cost - wacko lawsuits. The question of how much warming, or how much cooling is irrelevant if power is essentially free. As an added bonus, this would impact all the oil-funded terrorism. This concept is hated by the powers that be on the Right because thorium doesn't lead to anything useful for weapons. And it is hated by the Left because only a school teacher could be duped into seeing lower costs on literally everything as a bad thing."

Never heard back from MIT.

I said make more effiecient stuff, innovate and solve a problem proposed if it is real (mississipii state still gave scholarship even after questioning it, cool) but i also shilled nuclear because why not and solar/wind/water only works some times

Can't use the word nuclear, that triggers them. "Thorium reactor" will skate past half of them, easy. :D

I do love how "NMR" is called MRI by the medical field, and even the space people call their nuclear power sources "RTG"s to sort of shuffle "Nuclear powered" under the rug.

Throw dust into the atmosphere by detonating large nuclear weapons in inhabited parts if the Sahara to reduce total sunlight reaching the Earth.
