My understanding is this:
- A bunch of people went to protest in DC.
- The police defense of the capitol was weak and they pretty much let people into the capital, waving them in even.
- People entered the capitol building as if it were a museum attraction. For the most part it was largely peaceful with people even taking selfies with police officers. - There was some violence, pushing and shoving and guys yelling at each other but a far cry from anything that happened at the Portland riots.
- Some police officer lost his eye apparently? Sucks but kids lose their eye playing with sticks and stones... it happens. Sad but pretty minor
- A woman gets shot by a private security guy. All the woman was doing was breaking a window. She was standing next to a police officer so she thought what she was doing was fine and wasn't going to get her killed
- Politicians pretended like their life was in danger and overreacted. Meanwhile most guys were just taking selfies sitting in people's offices and posting on instagram.
- Potentially people were chanting "hang Pence" so presumably they were all going to hang the politicians or something.
Anyway, did I cover it? Seems like a mostly peaceful protest tbh and not a big deal. What's the big deal? I don't get it.
The big deal is that it was an opportunity for the media, the uniparty, and the left to exaggerate the event to cast all patriots as domestic terrorists.
