That is a function of your immune system recognizing a possible pathogen. One polio vaccine (a dead virus) gives a person lifelong immunity. I see no reason this approach should be any less effective at enabling the body to recognize proteins of this virus. The difference being the full virus had hundreds of surface proteins that the body might learn to recognize. This vaccine introduces several proteins. Flu vaccines need to be repeated because there are hundreds of different flu viruses when preparing the vaccine they focus on a few they think will be predominant. Each year it vaccinates against different flus. So far none of the COVID variants has been reported to not have all if not most of the proteins in the vaccine.
I understand how a dead virus vaccine works. This is not that. It uses DNA to force your cells to create a fake pathogen. What happens to that instruction set afterward? They say it will go away. If so, you cannot remain immune.

I do understand. You appear not to understand that DNA stores your genes. To use the DNA your cells copy the pattern of the DNA to mRNA which passes from the nucleus into the cytoplasm where it is used to make proteins. The vaccine hijacks this process to make the foreign proteins that train your immune system to recognize the disease before it can begin replicating. The mRNA in your cytoplasm does not write or rewrite your DNA any more than a copier changes the original. This is not to say I think it is necessarily a good idea to hijack ones protien building apparatus to make foreign proteins. I strongly advised my pregnant daughter not to take it.

You are comparing two things that cannot be compared and an mRNA vacc does not allow the body to recognize anything. It makes the body think it is infected, that's it. The question I have is how long until those proteins that your cells just grew go away? Once the cell dies? Since they are saying the body will eventually eliminate the mRNA this cannot be a long term solution. I'm not claiming the regular flu vaccine is permanent but it will teach my body to recognize and create a few things on its own.

But the death rate for COVID is also artificially high.
Still have to weigh the odds of being killed by the virus against weighing the odds of being killed by the vaccine. And for younger healthier people the odds of being killed by the vaccine and being killed by the virus are probably roughly equivalent. IOW, very low in either case. Therefore, why should I add to my life yet another way to die?
for most healthy people, the vaccine will at most cause a day of inconvenience. So trading a slightly bad day for a week of really bad days is the idea...
