Caused by postmodernism. If everything is subjective then every claim is just a psychological attack. Nothing has to be logically consistent so hypocrisy doesn’t matter. Just make psychological attacks and believe psychological attacks.
I wouldn’t even call it information warfare because that’s more of an attack on some sort of logic that someone is using. These leftists are engaging in psychological attacks because ignoring hypocrisy due to feelings is a psychological phenomenon, not an attempt to manipulate some sort of systematic logical thinking. It’s all an attempt to manipulate emotion and social cognition.
The only thing I can think of that might work is ask them if they think truth is subjective. Force them to admit that they’re effectively just liars since, if truth doesn’t exist due to subjectivity, everything is a lie and they necessarily believe and express lies all the time based on their own standards.
Pinning down liberals that lie to themselves is nigh impossible. I’ve made progress with my college roommate (we were in 20 years ago) but my former best friend, demoted to just plain friend replies with annoying things like, “It’s interesting to hear what the other side believes,” interpreted, “I’m a non-confrontational person that thinks you’re crazy and retarded and I don’t have time for your conspiracy theories and I’m going to change the subject now to how much I hate my job that I say I love.” Same with my husband’s former best friend. He will just end the text conversation (haven’t seen him in over a year bc Covid is the most deadly plague in history, I guess). It just feels pointless when some people are so brainwashed.
