Bingo, and not just personal EV's, in the long term they want everyone to use mass transit only, powered by electricity. Just look at the old Soviet states, electric trains, electric trolleys, even electric buses.
Despite harder winter climate than anywhere in the US, and we all know how bad electricity works during winter. It's not for the "environment", it's all about control, always has been.
A few kilowatts of solar panels and a properly designed switch to take you off the grid are MORE resilient to control.
They shut off the power and gasoline cars stop pretty quick too. Ever tried to buy gas during a blackout? Those pumps are electric.
They promote EV's for stupid reasons, but the fact that their arguments are stupid doesn't mean EV's themselves don't have some significant engineering advantages over IC's (and vice versa). There is a place for both.
This has always bothered me. We shouldn't be rejecting new technology just to spite the left. We shouldn't allow them to mandate it either, but the free market is quite good at letting the correct engineering choice occupy it's niche, and improved battery and motor technologies make EV's useful in a way that they previously were not.
Own a diesel car, and it's pretty quick and easy to convert it to run off woodgas. You'd need a whole array of solar, and not a small one, to power up your EV. Plus, you're stuck within a certain range. Electric cars have a much smaller range than gas powered, and gas powered can be refueled from multiple sources. Unless you've got a diesel generator when your car runs out of fuel, you'd be SOL.
This is why I believe they push EV (Electric Vehicle), shut off the power no one goes anywhere.

yap. exactly. and i really do believe that in the future, you will get a "fine" if you have a "petrol car"

You don't need the government's power if you have your own solar array.
True true.
