Very thoughtful of you pede to try and help people through it instead of just calling them stupid for being on it. I’ve never used Facebook but for people like my maumau and parents I think this is something that could be helpful to them. We need to take this approach way more often than chastising folks.

I have a large family with a lot of maumau's and am trying to figure out a way for them to share - because that is very important esp with the pandemic. So far, I have come up with this - one of the more savvy members sets up a Word press blog - really basic - the others email him their pics - which are the gold - and he posts them on the blog - and the commenting is pretty easy. That is working so far for a cluster of family members in the west. Still pondering though ....
Really about just getting them moved over. If you can save all their pics, etc and then upload them all back to gab or Parler they’d still get some of the other fun functions they like and keep their existing stuff.
For straight storage and reach ability of pics and video type stuff you can get one of those hard drive arrays and put it in their “dmz” on the Internet and give the other family logins to it so they can access from anywhere and then you have complete control over it and no service provider can ever take it away from you. There are even apps to connect to it that make it super easy.

I did this a few weeks before the election and it's made a huge difference. I've caught a lot of bans since then too. Weird correlation there.

Never understood the appeal of collecting huge amounts of boring photographs of yourself and friends in different locations that you will only ever look at once but feel the need to amass thousands of these. It’s as if some people need to reminded what they look like.
Parents will disagree. I don’t have tons of photos of myself or friends, I want pics of my son growing up.
Okay but why do you need Facebook for that?
the Only thing I can see that is useful about the photo aspect of Facebook is if you have family in another country and you want to share images with them showing how you and your children are doing. That is a tiny percentage of Facebook users and there are other applications that can do that without supporting suckerburger. Why do you feel that Facebook is a place to store memories? It is not. It is a place where your memories are converted into digital information and sold to third party organizations. Your memories are just currency to this company. It is a place for people to virtue signal and to show photos to random strangers and get some kind of empty validation from them. It is also a place for pedophiles and predators and domestic terrorists. There is a huge tendency for people to put photos on Facebook to give a false impression of their lives and try to create an illusion with others, that their life is great. That is one of the reasons I cancelled my account seven years ago before Facebook became unpopular. Facebook is just smoke and mirrors. Sorry bout the rant.
Only have Facebook for the photo albums. Just started using Free Prints to get hard copies. Finished a whole year already. 85 free pics a month and 9¢ a pic after that. I have yeeeears to print, but once I’m done, bye bye Facebook.
I was talking about people who had blogs there - recipes, gardening, politics, etc. It is not a forum and a good place to display special photos where family members can visit.
I only used it for a few months. I didn't like having any of my info on it. When they suspended me for some comments I made I told them to get fucked and got off there. I have my photos backed up and never put more than a hand full on there anyway, which were just pictures of my dogs.

Once people get off they need to stop facebook following them and block them.
Facebook will follow people who are not members and they will get lots of links to bring them back.

Yeah. I did it a long time ago. Condensed all the photos to a zip file and deleted. It was never really mine anyways, just created by my wife. Which reminds me, non-gamers may not recognize that social media is the videogamification of life. Gamers at least like me can balance or turn it off. Not everyone is so lucky.
I don't have much personal info on Facebook, but I like to use it to get the libtards all worked up by posting the facts that they don't like
