I'd disagree about them thinking he was one of them. I think they knew he wasn't but was the weakest candidate to oppose Hillary. This dinner was after a debate where he gave her a trouncing and was his "I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with me" moment.

THEY KNEW HE WANTED TO WIN. THE OH SHIT MOMENT FOR THEM CAME WHEN HE WAS DISCUSSING HILLARY AND "IT TAKES A VILLAGE". THIS IS WHEN THEY KNEW THAT HE WAS COMING FOR THEM AND THAT IT WAS TOO LATE FOR THEM TO DO A DAMN THING ABOUT IT.
