Woke up this morning. Lights are off. No problem Have enough flash lights to light up the area. Candles for light and some radiant heat...it can be done... Grill for cooking...portable hand held solar power battery fully charged for phone and computer. Tethering is my friend...Not going to get caught short again...thoughts on a good generator..to support the .stove, frig, and Heat/AC unit..everything else we can improvise...

I'd go with a Honda if you can find one at this time. Pretty reliable.
Thank you
I have lived off grid for 25+ years. Nearest power is 10 miles away, 0 utilities in the ground. I have faith you will figure it out.....think camping! Campion generators, 6500watt, with option of propane or gas to run it, that should hold you. Stock up on gas where you can because, no power gas stations don't work.
Honda if you can afford one
Thank you
We have a 20kW Kohler with a 500gal LPG tank. It'll run the whole house for a week.

500 gal for just a week? Horey shet.
That's if it's running a full load. 20kW is a lot of power.
Honda, Yamaha, Champion 2k+ Pure Sine Inverter gens. All sip fuel. I expect many others of the type are great as well.
If money is no object, a Honda propane model. Or gas model but propane can be easier to deal with.
For small stuff, cheap, champions or predators from harbor freight. Do the research carefully on how much you need in terms of capacity. Start up load and running load matter. And in this case cheapest option is generally harbor freight and buy the warranty.
Good luck finding one now and stay safe.
We have the great little Honda generator others have recommended. We're in California so we lose power A LOT!!! It's easy enough for this old lady pede to get started even. It's nice and quiet too.

Kerosene heaters work very well just for warmth - they get really toasty and kerosene is inexpensive and it lasts.
Keep your refrigerated items packed up nicely in the cold. When our power dies for an extended period due to cold - and I'm in cold country, everything just goes into coolers and placed just outside.
It’s always wise to have backup heat systems. We have geothermal, which is electric. Also have 2 LP fireplaces and a wood furnace, so we have 3 different fuel types we can use if one fails. Get some water storage too.
We have a Champion, dual fuel so it'll run on propane or gas. Works great. Hondas are awesome but $$$.
I appreciate all the information. ..I am on it. Tethering w. bluetooth works ...next generators....home depot of course is out. I called just in case they were open. The manager stated his generator was a hard start this morning. They have been open since 11 am. all out of generators....figures...will have to wait and get one pronto. Thank you again Pedes.
