Instead of teenagers getting hired for a few hours to begin to work and discover paths they might be interested in, no work is available to them and they sit in their parents homes being idle. People are willing to work for less.
Shit really started going downhill faster, IMO, when they started preventing us millennials from working as teens. Everybody needs to have a shitty job at some point.

This is due to the offshoring and outsourcing of jobs. The sucking sound of NAFTA, etc. Combine that with efficiencies given to us by technology.
