Instead of teenagers getting hired for a few hours to begin to work and discover paths they might be interested in, no work is available to them and they sit in their parents homes being idle. People are willing to work for less.
Shit really started going downhill faster, IMO, when they started preventing us millennials from working as teens. Everybody needs to have a shitty job at some point.
For real. I'm not a millenial, I'm Gen Z, but finding a job was extremely hard growing up. First off with the shitty age requirements (had to be at least 16 to be legally employed) as well as how competitive jobs had gotten. Everywhere was asking for increasing amounts of requirements for very basic jobs that didn't really need them. They had to get their money's worth with these minimum wage requirements they had so I get it but it sucked.
These idiots claim they're helping or think they'll benefit from more pay but are really just screwing EVERYONE over.
I'm Gen X and I had a hard time finding jobs in high school and college. The few that I did get taught me something though: that I needed to go to school or figure out what to do with my life because I definitely didn't want to end up as an incompetent 45-year-old manager at Burger King or JCPenney.
