Yup. 50% of Texas' wind turbines are inoperable due to weather.

Friend in San Antonio just told me that multiple power facilities are shut down due to "under enginered" facilities not able to keep shit thawed. Saysmany without power and rolling black outs.

Dang. Lived in Austin and was impressed when it snowed once.

Just fix it, you bigot. Think about the people at risk!!!!! Maybe you white supremacists should, like, turn off the, like, wind turbines. It's already, like, fuhreezing. How can I survive without a warm latte? Think of someone other than yourselves. - Aoc, probably.....

Many frens in Texas.

The expectation is that tonight (when temps drop into teens) many of the elderly will freeze to death in their homes— which are not built with adequate insulation or fireplaces, due to the typical climate of the region.

The wife and I were driving to get gas and snacks. We saw a completely dark neighborhood with ambulance lights shining brightly and what appeared to be an elderly woman, was being taken out of her home on a stretcher. This shit is sad af. Definitely deadlier than COVID.

Yup. Have lots of relatives there; most live in West or East Texas so I'm hoping they still have heat.

we need some global warming to defrost those turbines

here in Kansas City, just had a lovely 15 min blackout. was really nice to have my power go out with zero warning when i was in the middle of working. luckily only lost a little bit of work and none of my electronics were dusted from the sudden shutoff.

i cant believe joe biden would do this to me. he personally did this!

It's like something is telling us to ditch that "renewable energy" scam for something true and tested, like nukular, for instance.

Just build cold turbines, bigots.

Man, zero effort arguing is just so easy. No wonder why everybody does it. Imagine not needing to source actual science and just screaming science instead. Really convenient when political scientists and publishers that lean on your side of the aisle are in control. You could even school the literal inventor and nobel prize winner on how his machine actually works.

The worst part is that this has been a failed policy for literally decades. The feds tried to incentivise wind turbines in the 90s, in fucking Alaska. No duh, they froze over and they cost more than they ever produced.

Wind is a pipe dream for morons, and solar is only slightly less stupid.

I believe it's possible humans can influence climate change. That's why I'm in favor of oil products. It's f-ing cold! I want the thermostat turned up!

I love solar. I am a huge advocate for the advancement of solar technology. We aren't there yet. And unless we can power an entire house on one small panel on a cloudy day. we will never be

This is why we need diversity in energy.

Right. Nothing wrong with adding more sources. Stupid to eliminate the original just because you made some windmills and panels. Let them add to the mix when they can.
