We have a pittie / boxer mix and he started having seizures around two years of age. He was having them often ... What ultimately worked for him is kepra (generic) and zonisimide. He hasn't had a seizure (knock on wood) in over two years now.
It's different for everyone, of course, but maybe you can discuss that with your vet if the initial treatment plan doesn't work out.
