Makes sense. Excess sugar consumption has to be a cause of inflammation, so I was at least on the right track. All I know for sure is that out of all the macros, carbs are the only one that you can live without. Protein and healthy fats are essential. Alternative energy (at least the ones these assholes are making money off of) has always been best applied as a reserve system -- something with modest applications that could be used to conserve more traditional energy forms. It was never going to work on such a scale and as the primary source. And that's just the ones that can work in those circumstances (there have been other schemes put into action that were even more hare-brained).

Nuclear is the perfect reserve power source. All it requires is inserting or withdrawing the control rods to produce more or less steam that gets fed to turbines all to meet demand. Which is exactly what they already do. But it doesn't work when you don't have nuclear power to begin with.
Plants have gone down. Power grids are not coming back up after being shut down for rolling black outs. Frisco had power ouf from 4am until after 5pm. Alot of pools are destroyed.
Power plants have external cooling towers which would have all frozen. They can be designed for these low temps but in Texas they absolutely would not have been because it costs extra.
With frozen cooling towers you must shut down all other equipment because it will overheat otherwise.

There is no such thing as "The Science". There is lots of different data, some of it collected scientifically, some of it not.
Then there are scientists, some of whom are completely unbiased, but most of whom are not.
The data is the data, but "the science" is the analysis of that data by humans. Some look at it and come to one conclusion, others look at it and come to different conclusions. Trump could just as easily have said "The science says you're wrong" because there are plenty of analyses out there that say the opposite of what this guy is saying.
Most importantly, all we have to do is look at historical data (which these climate scientists all claim to love until the historical data you're referencing is what they said 20 years ago) to see that all their claims, which were and still are based on computer modeling, not actual observed data, have not come to pass. None of them.
Show me a single prediction from these climate gurus that ended up being true 20-30 years later, or even by the date they said it would occur, and I will start listening.

I don't think global warming / climate change from CO2 is bad science - it generally makes sense: the young earth had nothing but a heavy CO2 atmosphere (because oxygen cannot exist without replenishment in some fashion, it will react with anything it can rather than exist freely, much like how all the oxygen on Mars is trapped in the iron-oxide-rich terrain), plants consumed it to grow, when they died they were buried by sediments and became oil because at the time in the carboniferous era there was no fungus to decompose them. Now we are digging up the oil and burning it, putting that sequestered CO2 back in the atmosphere.
It's also not a myth that CO2 is a more thermally insulative gas than N2/O2 mix.
What I do doubt is that the crisis is as psychotic and "we're all going to die" as the 'scientists' claim, because my entire life has been a slideshow of hysterical environmentalists taking something that is generally true and blowing it up a billion-fold because they think they have to terrorize and scare people in order to 'drive them to act'.
I have zero opposition to things like 'green' energy and electric cars. If technology drives jobs, opportunity, and makes a cleaner world with cheaper energy, hey, why the fuck not? But again - forcing people to do these things, rejecting alternatives like nuclear because they're politically scary to stupid people, and completely ignoring the consequences and pretending you can build a system that is completely run by solar power with no thought as to what happens when the sun goes down... yeah fuck off. You want to build a solar plant to augment the grid? But at the end of the day, gasoline engines with fuel tanks are currently overall better and more reliable options. I can take my car down dirt trails and up into the mountains off the grid, and if I'm concerned about having enough energy to return, I can throw a 30-pound can of gas inside and it'll get me a lot of miles to escape. If I had an electric car, I'd probably fucking die and have to abandon the vehicle. I can refill a tank in 6 minutes, versus an hour waiting for a charge to just get me 200 miles to the next hour-long charge. And if I hit a sharp object, worst case my gas tank ruptures and pisses the fuel everywhere. If a sharp object hits my batteries I blow the fuck up.

What I've read, the new farming techniques (whatever it's called) will reduce expenses so much it's more profitable for farmers, even with a lower yield. And that doesn't account for rising CO2, which boosts plant growth.
This will also stop topsoil erosion and reinvigorate nutrients in topsoil in just 2 or 3 years, with great results seen in 5 years. This same change will pull more carbon out of the atmosphere than anything else proposed. So would planting more hemp than we could ever use. I'm not sure of the details about changes in chemical usage, but less; and no plowing. I'm not sure what they do instead of plowing, but it works; all the farms around here have been doing it for a couple years already.
I'd like to see data on implementation of this, Nationwide. Spinach has 17x less nutrition than it did in the 1950's, due to farming techniques messing up our topsoil. We could do with turning that around!

Makes sense. Excess sugar consumption has to be a cause of inflammation, so I was at least on the right track. All I know for sure is that out of all the macros, carbs are the only one that you can live without. Protein and healthy fats are essential. I think it's pretty much a stalemate at this point. Unless the fed pumps billions into the state to convert all the homes and businesses to oil, and then subsidizes the cost of heating by oil, the state literally cannot meet EPA standards. And forcing most homes to oil would bankrupt a significant part of the population, as this hits low income people in Fairbanks and North Pole the most - and they're not wealthy. Electricity is simply not an option, in terms of cost, and running poles to support it.

Alternative energy (at least the ones these assholes are making money off of) has always been best applied as a reserve system -- something with modest applications that could be used to conserve more traditional energy forms. It was never going to work on such a scale and as the primary source. And that's just the ones that can work in those circumstances (there have been other schemes put into action that were even more hare-brained).
But it made some very politically connected folks a whole lot of money.
Nuclear is the perfect reserve power source. All it requires is inserting or withdrawing the control rods to produce more or less steam that gets fed to turbines all to meet demand. Which is exactly what they already do. But it doesn't work when you don't have nuclear power to begin with.

Plants have gone down. Power grids are not coming back up after being shut down for rolling black outs. Frisco had power ouf from 4am until after 5pm. Alot of pools are destroyed.
Power plants have external cooling towers which would have all frozen. They can be designed for these low temps but in Texas they absolutely would not have been because it costs extra.
With frozen cooling towers you must shut down all other equipment because it will overheat otherwise.

The funny thing is, climate models don't take into account things like particulates and cloud cover because they can both cause warming AND cooling depending on the situation. But the amount of computer processing required to add those effects into their model makes them computationally unviable, so they just ignore the effects altogether.
There's entirely too much reliance on "scientific" models that rest on human assumptions. For example, the whole "50% of coronavirus cases are transmitted asymptomatically" uproar comes from a model which projected the outcome where it was assumed that asymptomatic patients were 75% as infectious as those with symptoms, even though there's no supporting data to indicate that they can transmit the disease at all (spreading a respiratory virus without coofing is like spreading an STD without fucking.) And yet political clowns like Dr. Fauci regurgitate this spurious media claim as if it's settled science.
We're dealing with people who believe that questioning science (/journalists/any designated "proper" authority) is so bad that even if the science is wrong, it's still worse to acknowledge so. These people get mad when Enemy X is proven correct, not because it means they're wrong, but because it means other people might believe X is correct (which they think is bad, even when X is correct).

Most importantly, all we have to do is look at historical data (which these climate scientists all claim to love until the historical data you're referencing is what they said 20 years ago) to see that all their claims, which were and still are based on computer modeling, not actual observed data, have not come to pass. None of them.
Show me a single prediction from these climate gurus that ended up being true 20-30 years later, or even by the date they said it would occur, and I will start listening.

I don't think global warming / climate change from CO2 is bad science - it generally makes sense: the young earth had nothing but a heavy CO2 atmosphere (because oxygen cannot exist without replenishment in some fashion, it will react with anything it can rather than exist freely, much like how all the oxygen on Mars is trapped in the iron-oxide-rich terrain), plants consumed it to grow, when they died they were buried by sediments and became oil because at the time in the carboniferous era there was no fungus to decompose them. Now we are digging up the oil and burning it, putting that sequestered CO2 back in the atmosphere.
It's also not a myth that CO2 is a more thermally insulative gas than N2/O2 mix.
What I do doubt is that the crisis is as psychotic and "we're all going to die" as the 'scientists' claim, because my entire life has been a slideshow of hysterical environmentalists taking something that is generally true and blowing it up a billion-fold because they think they have to terrorize and scare people in order to 'drive them to act'.
I have zero opposition to things like 'green' energy and electric cars. If technology drives jobs, opportunity, and makes a cleaner world with cheaper energy, hey, why the fuck not? But again - forcing people to do these things, rejecting alternatives like nuclear because they're politically scary to stupid people, and completely ignoring the consequences and pretending you can build a system that is completely run by solar power with no thought as to what happens when the sun goes down... yeah fuck off. You want to build a solar plant to augment the grid? There's nothing wrong with that, especially if it reduces coal consumption (coal and oil are finite resources, extending the lifespan of stocks is a good thing).
But at the end of the day, gasoline engines with fuel tanks are currently overall better and more reliable options. I can take my car down dirt trails and up into the mountains off the grid, and if I'm concerned about having enough energy to return, I can throw a 30-pound can of gas inside and it'll get me a lot of miles to escape. If I had an electric car, I'd probably fucking die and have to abandon the vehicle. I can refill a tank in 6 minutes, versus an hour waiting for a charge to just get me 200 miles to the next hour-long charge. And if I hit a sharp object, worst case my gas tank ruptures and pisses the fuel everywhere. If a sharp object hits my batteries I blow the fuck up.
It's more than that. In the 60's our government was part of a panel to see if anything could replace war as a means for drumming up patriotism including the voluntary payment of taxes. It was determined that probably not, but if anything could it would have to be incredibly wasteful, and global in nature.

CO2 isn't a problem, plants are starved for it. Methane and other pollutants may be different, but focusing on carbon is idiotic. Farming without plowing or heavy use of chemicals will work wonders, for all involved. I forget the word for it, but it's worth looking into.

Yeah the farming is a complete shitshow. The SecAg of Florida is like the only Democrat in power in that state, and she landed the job because farmers were pissing away tons and tons of wastewater fertilizers and phosphates into Lake Okeechobee and polluted the fuck out of the lake, driving huge algae blooms that killed everything. They literally couldn't have given two fucks because they just wanted profits.
I am something of an environmentalist - as a huge outdoors enthusiast I recognize that public lands are everyone's lands and no one person has any right to spoil it for everyone else (god bless Teddy Roosevelt for recognizing this too). It pisses me off when I see people dumping washing machines and shit in the desert just to shoot them and then leave it, like it's ever gonna just "go away" on its own or something.
So greedy-ass farmers doing shit like dumping billions of tons of pesticides and chemicals just to flip bigger profits for the conglomerate they operate under, man, fuck them.

What I've read, the new farming techniques (whatever it's called) will reduce expenses so much it's more profitable for farmers, even with a lower yield. And that doesn't account for rising CO2, which boosts plant growth.
This will also stop topsoil erosion and reinvigorate nutrients in topsoil in just 2 or 3 years, with great results seen in 5 years. This same change will pull more carbon out of the atmosphere than anything else proposed. So would planting more hemp than we could ever use. I'm not sure of the details about changes in chemical usage, but less; and no plowing. I'm not sure what they do instead of plowing, but it works; all the farms around here have been doing it for a couple years already.
I'd like to see data on implementation of this, Nationwide. Spinach has 17x less nutrition than it did in the 1950's, due to farming techniques messing up our topsoil. We could do with turning that around!
