The thing is, I don't even hate the idea of solar or other alternative energy. I think it's pretty cool and exciting technology. What I (and most here, probably) hate is the relentless virtue signaling about how it's saving the planet when it's not, or that fossil fuels need to be eradicated completely when that's obviously unrealistic due to the drawbacks of these other technologies.

I used to run ads for a few different solar companies and A/B tested targeting conservatives vs. liberals. The conservative group vastly outperformed. The left loves to virtue signal, but it's the right who are actually adopting the technology because solar panels can genuinely be profitable.

This. Solar works in suburban and rural areas that tend to be dominated by conservatives, but not so much urban areas where square footage is limited. Even then, it's a technology that can only supply just so much power, and so while its useful for residential users and even some commercial buildings, its ludicrous to think it can replace all industrial uses of other base-load power sources. But, of course, virtue signalers gonna virtue signal.

I agree completely. Plus nuclear power is the elephant in the room these assholes never want to talk about, which they would if they were serious about fixing the environment.

This for sure. Liberals think we're pro-oil, when in reality we're pro-viability. Solar might be a great technology once we figure out some of the efficiency issues, but until then we shouldn't be subsidizing or pushing it.
