I want to add that both sides fought for what they felt was right... and in the end, I'm not sure that the outcome was much different than it would have been otherwise.
This is indeed accurate, both sides felt they were just in their fight. Though, if the Confederacy did prevail, we may have had 2 separate countries today. Who knows. Though, today's turmoil seems a little less divided among States vs States as opposed to Citizens vs a Government Establishment.
I spent 3 days in Gettysburg and felt it was not enough. I live rather close and haven't gone in quite some time. The Museum is amazing, built in 2008. The Cyclorama is a must see. They restored and looks amazing. I will admit I had a few moments of tears those 3 days. I want to return when the lookout towers are open. It's amazing the stories people tell you when you go in different buildings. This inn housed Confederate sharpshooters, this was a field hospital, this housed Union officers. It paints a picture the entire time you are there. The battlefield was vast and the monuments never seem to end. It really shows what it meant to fight for your beliefs.
Lets stop talking about BS like boog, hawaian shirts, heads roll and other BS. With few people they took over the system. It is time 80M of us to stop fighting the meme war, salt mining and other crap. Go take over those positions counting votes already. Run for local office. Support your local office. Donate for local office of DA and such.
Gettysburg is my number 1. Shiloh is 2 - harder to get to but worth it
I've been to a dozen CW sites

Shame that both sides were played by a few elite.
Antietam isn’t to far away. Also a good site to visit.
Literally nobody is fighting for her
