Utah is a state that is very unique, and it's got a lot of California transplants. I've spent a bit of time there and have yet to get a handle on the pulse.
I'd imagine him being a famous Mormon with an R next to his name has been enough so far, and am unsure if their Conservative base is strong enough to break the establishment stranglehold.
