News flash: tyrants wouldn't allow an openly hostile press corps, never ending riots and schools training an entire generation to hate him and be opposition violent activists.
However, tyrants DO demand total control over people's thoughts and do not allow deviation, have commissions of like minded zealots root out people accused of wrong-think, and have pulic sessions where those simply accused of opposing thoughts cannot escape without severe public punishments.
