We all know that the Mormon church is MASSIVELY conservative.
But I also remember hearing back in 2017 that not many Mormons from Utah voted for Trump.
And now, after Trump showed for four years that he's incredibly devoted to preserving the American way of life, Mitt Romney, by far the most publicly visible member of the church and who I believe has had family members who are prominent in the church, has voted to impeach Trump.
This makes no sense to me.
I want to know if the church is taking this route as a whole. Is the church gonna be Trump mormons or Romney mormons?
If you're mormon please be spreading the word of Trump's greatness to your mormon friends and family, we need every mind we can get
I was born and raised mormon. Left the church when I was 16 though. I lived in Utah (Utah is 'Zion' for mormons) for 37 years, 12 months, and 364 days. Now I'm a South Carolinian Pede. That being said... a lot of my morals and values are derived how I was raised. The mormon religion is based in God, family and country. However, the last time I saw my father... he is so defeatist. Doomer! And the Mormon church is becoming more and more liberal. They keep bending the knee with every new SJW rhetoric. It kinda makes me sad.
Salt Lake got hit with fags
Lol I've actually heard that before, it's like a fag capitol
Yes! This is 100% correct.
Its sad to see that so many in the church are falling prey to the same BS that is sweeping the rest of the nation.
Do we all know that Mormons are massively conservative? I went to a few Mormon meetups and stuff because a friend of mine was trying to recruit me into Mormonism. I actually found most of these Mormons were more liberal than the average population. Mormons, in an attempt to recruit more people, seemed to have entirely given up any of their inherently conservative aspects of their religion. They remind me of woke modern Catholics. I'm sure there still exists fairly conservative Mormons out there but based on what I saw, I'm not convinced Mormons are massively conservative. I'd need to see some statistics surrounding the whole group.
This. This right here. People blame dominion but Utah voted for Mittens and they love him. Maybe it's just the city folk. Any Mormons from Utah want to comment?
I lost all respect for Mittens after I realized that Trump was the real deal and not at all a fraud like Romney said he was. But I really think it must just be the city folk
Got to be. I've talked to a lot of folks from Utah and they despise Mittens. Of course they were all rural folk, no surprise there. These cities have become a serious problem.
Utah never became real big on cities, it's mostly a rural state. If this is all true, Romney should be losing his seat soon, right? And that's how we'll know which way Utah is going
I need to see something from Utah. Fucking hell....
Romney is out. The people here hate him and so many of us, myself included, feel absolutely betrayed by him. There's no way he is reelected.
That's really interesting, all the mormons I ever met were either from California or Utah, and they were all at least anti abortion and anti gay marriage, I can't remember if they loved guns or not.
But fuck. The more I think about it the more I'm thinking you might be right cause it has been more than 10 years since I had any association with the church.
So this might mean that in that time the church has already been altered maybe. It might have something to do with the massive amount of missionary work that they do all over the world.
Fuck mormons, I'm never going back to church
They still oppose gays and abortion typically but those are actually very minor issues in the grand scheme of things. They 100% supported all this woke-ism, anti-racism, egalitarianism stuff. They think the democrats are the good guys and that Donald Trump is a bad man etc... They're easily swept up by the nice sounding words of the democrats and race war. Also, the Mormons I was looking into were discussing how women should be able to become priests because equality for women and it was being taken very seriously as like yeah this is a good idea. Basically the quick first impression I got from the Mormons church I experienced was the people were naive as fuck and had no clue how the people they supported were going to be their very undoing. They supported to social degradation thinking they were being nice and good people because they seemed to be adverse to conflict and overall weak humans. I don't expect Mormons to be around much longer as anything more than a joke from what I saw.
This is really bad news, this whole time here I was thinking the mormons are some of the good guys. I actually really hope you're wrong and that the ones you met were uniquely liberal or something. But that would really explain why Romney voted to impeach Trump.
But I also can't imagine Utah being a state with very few patriots. There's gotta be a big rural population that supports Trump. Maybe the mormon church leadership has also been infiltrated by socialists just like the government
I'm in Canada and these were Canadian Mormons. Still, I think if these Mormons are that way, it's likely an indication of something going on within the Mormon church itself. I'd be weary. I don't think they're as "based" as people think. Romney should most definitely be a clue to people about Mormons. I'd imagine Utah Mormons would be better than Canadian Mormons but I still found these Canadian Mormons more liberal than average Canadians which is very concerning to me. They just seemed overall very naive to the spiritual battle going on and were just too obsessed with trying to be nice and inclusive that they'd be willing to sacrifice almost all their values if it meant avoiding a confrontation and increasing the membership of the church.
Yeah mormons do try to be very inclusive and welcoming in general cause they're always trying to convert people. That situation seems pretty complicated to me cause canada is pretty woke (at least that's what I always assumed) but the mormons in canada are also not american and the mormon church is a religion that was started in the US, so they teach conservative values that are from here which I'm guessing are slightly different to Canadian ones (like, I don't think your conservatives talk about guns as much as we do here). Also, mormons in other countries are often converts and so may not have been raised by mormons
Mittens Romney is a pedophile.
I am an exmo and I still keep in touch with some mormon family. Some LOVE Trump, some just dislike Biden. Not all Mormons are sexual deviants but Romney's family is.
Oh right, the Mormon church does have a history of sexual deviance, it's really starting to add up
The LDS church, aka Mormon church, casts a wide net with everyone ranging from Amon Bundy to Mitt Romney.
The core teachings of the church are very conservative but the members of the church have certainly seemed to forget this. I've was once very active, even serving as a missionary, but I have been disappointed in the direction some in the leadership have taken, especially during Trump.
Ironically, the farther away from Salt Lake you go, the more conservative the individual congregations tend to be. But I think it is fair to say that you can't label the entire church as either conservative or liberal, as the members are about as diverse as the general population. Sadly, the Mormons are just as prone and susceptible to the siren call of communism and gullible to the mainstream news media as any other group, and there are far too many in the church that have forgotten what in written in our scriptures.
The problem that many in the church ran into with Trump was the brash attitude and the grab 'em by the pussy hit job. There's a term we like to use for members that take things a little too seriously, we call them Molly-Mormons (basically, imagine the typical Hollywood portrayal of any extremely religious person). Utah is full of them and Trumps New York attitude is scary to them.
Which way will the church go? Who knows. On the whole, I believe that most are starting to come around to the reality that we are in a fight between good and evil and have started taking the red pills. But they likely won't bother making that known since we tend to be disinterested in causing any commotion or arguing.
If you are interested in knowing what the actual core principles of the church are in regards to politics, there was a great essay written by one of the leaders called The Proper Role of Government by Ezra Taft Benson. It isn't a religious text, just a review of the Constitution and Communism and something that any American could benefit from reading.
Mormons are massive sheep. To be a Mormon you must suspend all logical thought and just do as you are told.
This is one of the covenants made by a Mormon in their Temple.
"You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the law of consecration... in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion."
