Natural gas production in Texas also declined due to well freeze-offs. Also one nuclear unit went down briefly yesterday.
But this isn't just a wakeup call about energy management; it's also a wakeup call about our dependence on it. Everyone should be asking themselves how long they could go without power AND without transportation and how to be as comfortable as possible.
Note to people, if you want to go off grid you can stockpile years of food easier than years of energy. I've seen so many "off grid" people who rely on propane or diesel or gasoline to be off grid. Gasoline production infrastructure is also considered the grid.
This is the problem I have. I don't have any real way to store fuel in large quantities and even if I did, diesel and gasoline goes bad after like 2 years even with stabilizer. 3 for diesel. And really this would only be for running a multifuel stove.
Naphtha fuel lasts for nearly forever but it's not cheap.
Yep, just look at the way people survived throughout history. Wood stoves are all that’s needed, for heat and cooking. You just have to be ready to collect and chop your own wood all the time.
In an emergency gas isn't nearly as critical to survival as food.wood stove and solar energy will suit me in the short term, unfortunately storing fuel long term has limits

Why not have a wood stove?
Propane will last forever, assuming the vessel it is in remains airtight.
