Only somewhat true and we still a very long way from having battery storage on that kind of scale. Even if we had perfect battery storage wind generators will never return a net positive to the system. Batteries only reduce the margin of loss but that also brings into question the production of the batteries, facilities in which to store them, additional complexity in hooking them up to the power grid.

The amount of fossil fuels to create the windmill and the battery storage capacity will never be recouped by the windmill in its service life. It's not even a system that finances its own creation. And it creates landfill garbage when the turbines break. Environmentalists aren't the ones with them in their backyards or they don't live near landfills.
