New Jersey is not a good place to be. I am surrounded by liberals, leftists and communists. I am locked down and have nothing to do, and virtual school is just a killer. I have no motivation to do any assignments. I am failing and behind in many of my classes. My family all voted Biden. I see our society decaying to the point of no return. They cheated Trump out of being president. Our government is corrupt. I can't think of many positives going on right now and its really affecting me. I don't know how a lot of you stay high energy. If any of you can help me out, a morale boost or something, I would really appreciate it.

When I was younger and feeling deeply depressed I quit my job and traveled for a while. I ended up working for a while as a roofer in Moab, Utah and at a hardware store in Montana. I pretty much just got in my car and drove then took jobs in places I felt would be nice to stay for a while. I eventually ended up in Mexico before going back home. Nothing wrong with loosing yourself for a year as long as it isn’t wasted sitting in front of a computer like most people do nowadays.

It's common around the world for young people to strike out into the world on their own after they finish the last levels of state mandated education. Or at least it was when I was that age. In the UK they call it a "gap year" before eventually going off to University.

I actually met a guy from Australia who was doing exactly that and he convinced me to go to Mexico. We parted and n Guanajuato and about a year later I received a post card from Iran in which he had written how great things were there and how evil America was for opposing the Iranian government. I always imagined him writing piles of postcards under hot lights and at gun point in some Iranian prison.
