true for people from USSR and Eastern Block as well.... but only as long as the communist were in power - now they happily believe all the lies the MSM present to them.....

I'll be fifty nine this year. I stopped going to the movies when I was twenty five. I stopped watching the TV in the late nineties and I stopped listening to radio shows about fourteen years ago.

...

My only regret is not doing any of that even earlier.

I'll always remember an NPR report I heard in the background during 2016. They were interviewing Russians in New York and asking them "aren't you worried about the reports of Trump working with Putin??" and the women they interviewed kept saying "no, we have news in Russia, too."

NPR decided that they were just too stubborn to listen to reason. I think they didn't understand that those women were calling NPR out as no better than Soviet news.

Exactly this doesn't mean they are "ahead of us". Chinese look to be the most oppressed on the planet.

Virtue is excellence in morals AND intelligence. Liberals think it's just morals.

They can't think period. They are told that certain things are morally right and they accept it without looking from the other side to see if their choice really is the moral choice. See the border. It's not morally right to have children raped & dragged across the desert and yet here they are. They think they are helping these people by accepting them but they are really endangering them.

Nevermind if those were good morals. They're just morals they were tricked into thinking were good by psychopaths who couldn't give a sht about them or anybody else. It's sad, because I genuinely think there's good in my IiberaI friends, otherwise they wouldn't be friends of mine. They just need to start thinking for themselves, but the conditioning is hard and seems like it started from a young age.

The more worrying thing is the large number of people who's trust in the media rose from 2015-2018/9.

For all its potential ugliness, the internet and its evolution has led, in combination of Donald J. Trump and his way of communicating PAST the media, directly to the people is what broke the paradigm.

Communication is critical, in all spectrums and all directions.

Yup. You discuss news with neighbor and friends. Use the media more as a "it exists" thing.

Luckily, my parents convinced me when I was 12 that the news was lies.

Also, many years ago when I was losing my temper with someone my mother stopped me and said," they are doing the best they can". It sincerely changed my whole attitude in life and with everybody I come into contact with.

Our propaganda machine used to be the best in the world because no one could even guess it was propaganda. Now it's getting pretty obvious, but people are conditioned to accept it and they have no concept of what real news is anyway.

Wow.
Deep.

They've known they were communist for decades though.
