A true "backup home generator" solution is going to run about 10k between the genset, the transfer switch, and labor to install and certify it all. That is not an option for most folks.
It's become a fact of life here in California to own a generator. I wonder how many Californians left theirs behind when moving to Texas this year? (Note: I'm a professional real estate photographer and most of the homes I shoot have generators and most of the homes that sell in my area were because owners were moving to Texas)
Texas here, I have maybe 30 minutes of power, then it's off again for several hours, then maybe 30 minutes, then off for several hours.
DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!! Fight them,
Not a Texan, but are backup home generators really that uncommon in Texas?
