If the Utah State Legislature passes this bill they can recall him.
Utah H.B. 217: Recall of United States Senator
General Description:
This bill amends the Election Code to provide for the recall of a United States senator.
Highlighted Provisions:
This bill:
▸ defines terms;
▸ establishes a process for legal voters to petition to place a question on the ballot to recall a United States senator;
▸ describes the signature requirements for a petition to recall a United States senator;
▸ addresses forms, timelines, processes, and requirements for an application for recall, preparing and circulating recall petition packets, and verifying and certifying signatures;
▸ addresses a recall ballot question, voting, and canvassing votes;
▸ establishes recall election dates;
▸ provides for legal review of certain actions; and
▸ establishes criminal penalties for misconduct relating to the petition, and related processes, to recall a United States senator.
The only problem with that, is the Congress is a Federal entity, so the Constitution is the overruling authority. There are no provisions in it to recall anyone from either house, and attempts at it from state to do so have been shot down, and SCOTUS has not ruled definitively that it's possible.
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
It would be a very interesting case to argue States don’t have authority to remove their own Senators if there are no provisions for it. No provisions -> “reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”
Yes, and the method to remove a sitting congressmen from office is spelled out in the Constitution.
Article I, Section II, Paragraph V:
"Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member."
The issue - as I understand it, mind you - is that once elected to Federal office, states have no authority over them at that point - they're no longer a state elected official. The case I read about was over term limits, and SCOTUS said states can't change or add any rules or laws that aren't in the Constitution.
And, for the record, I want recall powers, I'm just going by what I've read.
It would be great if Romney took this to the SCOTUS and lost, but I'm not sure SCOTUS would want to hear this. The Constitutionalists would just say "Not in the Constitution, sorry, you'll have to amend the Constitution to do it."
Constitution needs a lot of overhauling, and certain key issues decided on by SCOTUS. But not with the current pack of corrupt shitheads in power. I don't want either house going near it, with the current rosters.
Uhhh are you sure? Pretty sure I just watched thousands of politicians wipe their ass with that piece of parchment last month. The constitution is absolutely worthless now, no longer being respected and enforced.
Would be interesting to watch. If they can get SCOTUS to uphold recalls, that would for sure change the political landscape. Congress members are too secure without it.
You’re dense if you think being recalled by voters even if it doesn’t result in removal won’t irreparably wreck his reputation, cause major legal issues, and guarantee his re-election loss.
So relying on other hacks who stole their way to power instead of letting the people decide. Wonderful system we have. Fool the people or steal your way in and there is literally ZERO fucking recourse.
Romney's father has been dead since the 90's. He was born in the Mexican mormon community, but they had to leave in the 20's. His father lived in the US from then on.
no one is denying that. but the person i was replying to said that romney was "from MA", which is incorrect. he was only the governor. your comment is irrelevant.
I like the message, but Utah doesn't have a real recall process and I don't think this will go anywhere. It sends a message, but the Utah GOP is stuck with him until 2024.
What a giant sack... I was so happy signing the recall petition for that shit-for-brains governor. I just wish we could get rid of the CCP Spy Fucker I begrudgingly call my representative.
How many sigs do they need? Utah has a greater chance than Commiefornia. Fag government here will cook up the Dominion to give this zero chance of succeeding.
Mostly because of the swarms of Californians fleeing Gavin Newsom. It doesn’t help the youth of the LDS church are being completely brainwashed in school by woke leftism cranked up to full retard level. These teachers here are flat out man eaters and card carrying communists.
We know that even the righteous will be led away in the last days... So yeah, it's everywhere, including BYU, but that doesn't mean that BYU = Harvard in cuckness ratings. There are still tons of great patriots there. Much like the Republican party, actually
Uh, what? Mormon is short for The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. We have the same relationship with Christ that other Christian faiths have, but we also have the BoM, which says on its cover, another testament of Jesus Christ. It's the record of people in America and their prophets testifying of a savior. It records Christ's visit to the people in this land after he was crucified. We are, like, all in on the Jesus game.
Watch their games? More eyeballs on TV gets these schools paid. They are always on ESPN it seems like. Usually late Saturday or a Friday night game. But those dudes are always on ESPN.
Kind of. Utah came up with this process of getting around the convention by getting signatures. People didn't realize it only means rich guys who lose the convention can pay a signature-gathering company to get them into the primaries. Mitt lost the convention but used this new law to get into the primaries. Mike Kennedy was his opponent, also very mormon, so that's not it. Normies vote for the name they recognize, plus, Trump endorsed him as an olive branch.
If you've ever heard the quote "you'll never regret being nice" that's bullshit
Now I know people are trying to change that, but The senate would have to approve and they won't
Might focus on nuking them in the 2022 primary or try recalling some of these out of control Governors. Fredo for example (Cuomo but he hates Fredo, so Fredo it ever shall be) maybe Whitmer, (what happened to her recall petition? I never heard more about it) Newsom, (Now this one IS gaining momentum) And the other 2 dem dipshits that put covid patients in nursing homes and killed them.
I wish Missouri would pass a bill to recall traitor Roy Blunt. He abandoned Trump in his hour of need. Now John Hawley on the other hand, is about the only politician in the whole United States that I would cast a vote for.
Hallelujah! If every state that had bad Senators or Representatives got them all recalled or censured that would send a big message to Nancy and Chuck. Let's do it. I'm working on getting Mitch censured right now.
FIREANNDIREACH WROTE:

THATS WHY I SAID!
1 AND ONLY 1 WAY OUT: https://conventionofstates.com/
SO GO TO CONVENTION OF STATES AND SIGN THE PETITION AND GO TO WORK AS A VOLUNTEER!
We can recall Mitt, we can impeach him, we can expel him, we can put him on trial for the treason. We should do it. We just need to set up some Zoom meetings with judge, juries, and lawyers and talk together and make a judgement and announce that Mitt has been impeached, and recalled and given a death sentence.
I already went through this research when that snake John Cornyn turned on us in early November. Enjoy the next six years Senator Fuckhead. Texans will remember
You can't recall a senator. A quick search on the internet would reveal that.
It's been proven time and time again recently that laws/rules don't matter anymore.
That's only if you're a Democrat...
which mitt is, so...
If the Utah State Legislature passes this bill they can recall him.

If you live in Utah you should keep that going.
The only problem with that, is the Congress is a Federal entity, so the Constitution is the overruling authority. There are no provisions in it to recall anyone from either house, and attempts at it from state to do so have been shot down, and SCOTUS has not ruled definitively that it's possible.

If Utah passes this, Romney can sue all the way to the SCOTUS. I don't think it's a slam dunk like you think it is.

Article I, Section II, Paragraph V: "Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member."
Thats "A" method, but why wouldn't people be allowed to recall their own senator?
For a time, the public didn't get a choice over their senator in the first place.
Which proves you can change procedures.
Constitution doesn’t say you can’t recall a Senator and since the federal government is silent perhaps the power has been reserved to the states
Since Senator selection was turned over to the people, recall should be available as well.
It's called the second amendment eh
The issue - as I understand it, mind you - is that once elected to Federal office, states have no authority over them at that point - they're no longer a state elected official. The case I read about was over term limits, and SCOTUS said states can't change or add any rules or laws that aren't in the Constitution.

Another reason to repeal that bullshit amendment that took powers away from states to choose their senators
Constitution needs a lot of overhauling, and certain key issues decided on by SCOTUS. But not with the current pack of corrupt shitheads in power. I don't want either house going near it, with the current rosters.
problem is when you start overhaul in present time, the DEMS will want 2A and other things overhaued as well.
Oh wow, the irony of the damn Constitutionalist
Nah. It’s open ended. If the state makes it a law then it’s good
“The constitution is the overruling authority”
Uhhh are you sure? Pretty sure I just watched thousands of politicians wipe their ass with that piece of parchment last month. The constitution is absolutely worthless now, no longer being respected and enforced.
Let him sue, then. How humiliating is that?
Would be interesting to watch. If they can get SCOTUS to uphold recalls, that would for sure change the political landscape. Congress members are too secure without it.
You’re dense if you think being recalled by voters even if it doesn’t result in removal won’t irreparably wreck his reputation, cause major legal issues, and guarantee his re-election loss.
It's about time.
Can easily change with a single house vote.
Could they vote create new laws to also recall him.
That's what they are trying to do.
No, not unless they revise the constitution.
Yep. Only way to remove a senator is through expulsion, which requires a two thirds majority.
So relying on other hacks who stole their way to power instead of letting the people decide. Wonderful system we have. Fool the people or steal your way in and there is literally ZERO fucking recourse.
This shit has to end now.
Or, get him to resign.
We could all take up a collection for something else... But that might be illegal. ;-)
Romney from Massachusetts but has a home in San Diego but is a senator in Utah? Yeah, fuck that carpet bagger, he isn't even a real Mormon
A Rino and a Mino.
His dad is king of a Morman city in Mexico with walls and machine gun nests.
Oh shit, is that for realz?
Not sure about the king part, but his great-grandparents fled to Mexico to avoid our antipolygamy laws. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2091675/Mitt-Romneys-Mormon-relatives-Mexico-fear-violent-attacks-anti-drug-stance.html
Stopped exactly there.
No. No it's not. He spelled it Morman, so he's not really an authority on the subject. Read a headline and spread misinformation.
His dad is dead. His dad would be ashamed of him.
Romney's father has been dead since the 90's. He was born in the Mexican mormon community, but they had to leave in the 20's. His father lived in the US from then on.
raised in Michigan!
romney is not from MA, he was just our governor.
So he carpetbagged everywhere.
no one is denying that. but the person i was replying to said that romney was "from MA", which is incorrect. he was only the governor. your comment is irrelevant.
I'm glad I didn't know he had a home in La Jolla while I lived there...
I like the message, but Utah doesn't have a real recall process and I don't think this will go anywhere. It sends a message, but the Utah GOP is stuck with him until 2024.
Utah legislature is trying to pass a state law that allows a recall process for Senators.
They don't have a process, but they're going to create one.
You can’t recall senators because they’re federal— not state. What they can do is bar him from re-election.
BREAKING: HAWAII JUDGE ORDERS EVERYONE WHO SIGNED ROMNEY RECALL EFFORT IMPEACHED INSTEAD
Haha nice
now remove cocaine mitch :D
How much do you want to bet that if this gains enough traction, Mittens will be requesting signature verification, like that fuck in CA.
If you EVER hear somebody call Utah a red state, correct them immediately.
It is getting more wokey blue RINO leftist by the day.
only since they went to all mail in voting. funny how that happened.
Mostly because of the swarms of Californians fleeing Gavin Newsom. It doesn’t help the youth of the LDS church are being completely brainwashed in school by woke leftism cranked up to full retard level. These teachers here are flat out man eaters and card carrying communists.
Wow - stunning - if true - I will take back all the negative things I think of mormons. How do I donate to BYU
Do not donate to BYU. I did my undergrad there, and they are more cucked lately. Liberal ideology among universities is deep.
Even the religious ones? What a shame
We know that even the righteous will be led away in the last days... So yeah, it's everywhere, including BYU, but that doesn't mean that BYU = Harvard in cuckness ratings. There are still tons of great patriots there. Much like the Republican party, actually
It’s a Mormon school. Not about Jesus much
Your Christianity argument is sound, but it's also true that BYU is going a bit Zoramite
Watch their games? More eyeballs on TV gets these schools paid. They are always on ESPN it seems like. Usually late Saturday or a Friday night game. But those dudes are always on ESPN.

Why would anyone in Utah vote for him? Is it voter/election fraud, primary rigging, or what?
If you've ever heard the quote "you'll never regret being nice" that's bullshit
Well that’s ridiculous. All I can recommend is, read Gene Sharp.
I’ve been astonished that they haven’t already
Best time I ever saw Mitt on camera was watching him on his flight to DC with a MAGA filled plane!
Good times... good times.
Can we just call him Willard?
Senators can't be racalled,
Now I know people are trying to change that, but The senate would have to approve and they won't
Might focus on nuking them in the 2022 primary or try recalling some of these out of control Governors. Can we repeal the 17th Amendment next?
I wish Missouri would pass a bill to recall traitor Roy Blunt. He abandoned Trump in his hour of need. Now John Hawley on the other hand, is about the only politician in the whole United States that I would cast a vote for.
The petition is to censure him from state legislature, not to recall/fire him.

Well shit. That's the entire population of Utah by now isn't it
Hallelujah! If every state that had bad Senators or Representatives got them all recalled or censured that would send a big message to Nancy and Chuck. Let's do it. I'm working on getting Mitch censured right now.
Wish I could sign
Mittens better put his mittens on bc he’s about to get thrown out in the cold
Matt Couch is the dumbest man alive
This POS isn’t from Utah and doesn’t actually live there.
Go for it. Every one of these people need to be removed.
No law allowe this. Utah would have to create one. Would be epic. He is a Democrat

H.B. 217 Recall of United States Senator
DO IT
How many are needed?
Freedom bonrar
what does a "recall" even do ?
We can recall Mitt, we can impeach him, we can expel him, we can put him on trial for the treason. We should do it. We just need to set up some Zoom meetings with judge, juries, and lawyers and talk together and make a judgement and announce that Mitt has been impeached, and recalled and given a death sentence.
The other guys have no problem using law as a weapon. How about they just charge ol Mittens for a state crime and indict him.
Judge shop it into a deep red county in UT and lay into him.
It would be a beautiful day if they ever found a way to remove this slime ball politician.
Keep going and get that shitbag OUT!!
We should impeach Mitt. Who cares about the legality, just impeach him. We can impeach him hundred of times.
I already went through this research when that snake John Cornyn turned on us in early November. Enjoy the next six years Senator Fuckhead. Texans will remember
2 decades too late.
I request mail in voting and no signature verification please. Let"s "fortify" his ass out of there!
Senators can't be recalled. We already learned this with McStain.
I didn't think you could recall senators per the 17th amendment
Are they recalling his Sam's Club membership? Can't recall a Senator, otherwise Ben Sasse would be a citizen right now.
