masking and social distancing is so effective it eradicated the flu

To be fair, this is the one thing on this site I can’t get my head around. How is it ridiculous to say that the flu rate has gone down since we all started wearing face diapers and not going to large gatherings? Does this not make sense?

The flu allegedly is cured while COVID has allegedly skyrocketed. Why does social distancing/masks improve one respiratory virus but not the other?

Because the numbers would be way worse if we didn’t, it’s incredible contagious

Or an easier theory of: those covid numbers are the flu numbers. How much more contagious do you think covid is vs the flu that you think 400k -> 165 is fathomable? This is about hospitalizations btw, not cases.

but it's not tho

it's not any worse than a cold because it is a cold. Coronavirus is one of the genera that causes the common cold. This particular one also causes pneumonia in your lungs, but that's pretty much the only difference, just like SARS and MERS. They aren't stupidly contagious, they're just more harmful to vulnerable people. This one is no more contagious than any other coronavirus.

Besides which, that's not even the silliness of the argument. The flu and the shanghai shivers are the same size and spread the same way. It's literally impossible for one to be stopped by masks and the other not to be.

Ask yourself why the case counts started plummeting 3 weeks ago after rising dramatically. Do you think people suddenly started wearing masks more? Or distancing even more?

Or could it maybe be that the test they use has an adjustable sensitivity that they can use to generate whatever percentage of positive results they choose and they decided to lower the sensitivity after the inauguration?

Oh, sorry, I guess that sounds like a conspiracy. Wait a second, I'm being handed a note here. Turns out that's exactly what both the CDC and WHO did.

Now what if you also discovered that they had decided to tell healthcare providers not to report flu cases as the flu unless there was also a negative covid test?

Hang on, I'm being handed another note

Right... I have an underlying lung disease AND diabetes. I haven’t worn my mask correctly for since May. Always below the nose - cause again underly lung disease. I have been to hospitals, had surgeries, been to restaurants, generally did everything I would usually do in the major metro area I live. The people in my household have worked the entire time going to work at physical locations. I was hospitalized with the flu in 2018 after taking the vaccine. COVID? Nothing. I’m not the only one. My pulmonologist reports he hasn’t had ANY patients with my disease in the hospital. I’ve been fighting lung disease for decades. Whatever the fuck COVID is it’s not incredibly infectious. You’re a fucking moron and I’m tired of listening to dumb fucks who think they know anything about lung disease tell me how it works.

Sure it would go down, but this much??? No fucking way thats almost 100% decline. Also ask yourself why the flu is almost nonexistent yet covid is rising so rapidly?? Somethings not adding up.
