The last blackout we had was at least five hours long. Meanwhile, upperclass neighborhoods in DFW continue to have power uninterrupted. You do the math.

Not surprising at all. We had that blackout back in the early 2000s in the NE for almost a week, people went fucking crazy, shit literally almost collapsed lol. Now, Californians cheer em on.

Taking down the grid periodically will become part of the green new deal.

I'm part of a co-op here in north central Florida: Sumter Electric Cooperative, SECO. They are excellent! And they let it be known on a regular basis they they are beholden only to their customers, as well as employees and shareholders, all who have to be customers of SECO.

7thGenTexan 3 points ago +4 / -1

We’re with a co-op. They’re still beholden to ERCOT. Doesn’t matter.

1
Livefreeordye 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's not true the local Co-ops have been taken over by a corporate entity called NCG.

0
Fuckommies 0 points ago +1 / -1

Co-ops are not locally owned they are funded by the federal government

Really hoping Texans are based enough to take action against this. And I hope that these companies are liable for their failures. I'd hope that when they were awarded contracts they made promises against this happening.

10
DonJr24 10 points ago +10 / -0

Oh there will be action taken, the issue will be in which direction. The dems and the media are already out in force trying to protect their precious wind turbines.

Dark Winter...

oh in a GOP majority state won by Trump. I didn't notice. C'mon, man!

3
Aoikaze2000 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's cause (I shit you not) the wind turbines froze solid and can't generate power.

chynese virus = no work/travel = no demand gas = no fracking = no oil = no jobs = fracking closed = no oil = freezing Texas.

On the positive side, this event has had no adverse effects on foreign aid to other countries.

We’ve had 3 hours of power in 30 hours.

18
ProudlyConservative 18 points ago +19 / -1

That's awful. I thought 2 hours of power in 24 hours was bad!

13
dukeofdoorcounty 13 points ago +13 / -0

That's Venezuela type numbers there

9
Tejas_Pepe 9 points ago +9 / -0

My house at 2 pm CST was 38 degrees...in my house....not outside...The water is shut off through out the town......since this morning...burst pipes..."We are working on it." Always a good idea to be prepared...except I did not plan well enough...generator is up next on the plan...people in town did not prepare...I had a full tank of gas ...lines up the wazooo at HEB this afternoon they opened at noon...really crazy one local place in town was open but his lights were down dim..I only stopped because of all the pick up trucks parked on the street...really infuriating...this rolling. black out...WTF

I_Love_45-70_Gov 11 points ago +11 / -0

Power was shut around 2pm with us. Came back at 2am. Cut off again at 6 pm.

No water. Their excuse is the water table is low, and that people letting their spigots to dribble was the cause.... smh on that one.

pmyourcovfefes 2 points ago +2 / -0

For those who can’t afford a generator or don’t have enough weather events to justify the cost of one a portable propane powered heater may help next time.

My plan for times like this is portable heater, lanterns that recharge as well as take batteries (have stocked up) and firewood. We can be warm, see at night, and can heat food outside over the fire pit. So far, never been without power for more than a day but the ice storm heading our way may challenge that record!

I had the misfortune of living in the shit hole otherwise known as Queens in 2006 or 2007 and it got hot enough to melt underground electric cables. Power was out for 13 days in 100 degree heat. The typical piss smell takes on a whole nother level under those conditions

I live in the ghetto and my neighborhood has underground lines. We still got our power cut.

Agreed, it’s too white. We need some coal power plants to turn the snow black and brown.
