It's such a "no shit" conclusion that extreme cold weather is much more dangerous than a slightly worse summer heat wave. This is because close to 100% of people who die in a heat wave are elderly and they are generally well looked out for in this regard.

On the opposite end of the spectrum anyone can freeze their ass to death especially if they are in an area where extreme cold is uncommon. Not to mention the increases in car accidents, slipping on ice, etc. all the people that die from that too as well as inability to travel. It can be super ass hot out but you can still get to the grocery store. Not so in extreme cold weather a lot of the times.
