If we learned anything from Katrina, it is that there is no cavalry: the government will not save you. Trust them at your peril.

You gotta trust the plan man! Look fat, Q is going to come through in about a month, so just have faith and some patience, and the whole thing will blow over.

Wow, leftist policies cause people to have their electricity "banned" by the bad weather, and this asshole tells them to go start their own utilities company. SMH

Then why should Texans pay any taxes if the government owes them nothing and they should learn to fend for themselves???

What a fucking idiot mayor with his fake apology. He's not sorry at all. Citizens cannot be held responsible when basic services they rely on (and pay for with tax dollars) fail because of government incompetency. Yeah, there will always be lazy fucks, but a lot of Texans are hurting.

It seems like that Texas mayor quit to run away from the mob that's starting to form.

This mayor sounds based as fuck. I 200% agree with him, sink or swim.

Another victim of the mob. Wish there were more like him.

well, except the fact that the citizenry pays property taxes and other various municipal taxes to provide the local government with money to provide shit to said citizenry... which includes infrastructure, including that of power and water in partnership with the utility companies, who get tax breaks, and get paid from every customer. The charge per kwh is primarily the cost of delivery (infrastructure).

So his rant was a bit too much. But people also need to be prepared for shit. So both the mayor and starbucks-fart-sniffers are both whiney bitches.

Except it's our local, state, and federal leaders fault we're without power...

I agree with what he said in a general context.

While I agree that people should never depend on the government to save them and you always should be prepared for the worst, people do depend on the government to keep them safe during hard times which I thought was one reason for paying taxes (I could be wrong here). Whoever left these people dependent on solar and wind should be responsible for providing backup power to the affected if they pay their utilities bill.
